How does it relate to your story? These poems were written at some of my darkest hours. Those hours were dark not so much because of a particular incident, rather, they came with a cosmos of experiences, memories, challenges and insecurities that had wrecked me to the core. My struggles with isolation and loneliness, a numbness to life and the complete and utter detachment from those that I love, actually began a few years before these poems were written- but they are not confined to the past. Writing has been a way to externalize these battles, in other words, to ink paper rather than scar skin. Though the struggles continue, I have realized more and more that I do not struggle alone. Perhaps others may relate to these poems and that helps to remind them that they too, are not alone.
